HIV Positive Parties

During the 1990’s, these parties guaranteed everything from the mild to the ultra-wild. However, these HIV positive nights of debauchery are not what one would expect. The National Development and Research Institutes took an up close and personal look at what transpires at these homosexual parties.

While the theme of the party seems like a mega-gay raunchy porno, Dr. Michael Clatts unfurled other findings. For starters, POZ Parties are designed for gay men who are HIV-positive. These parties are touted as compromise per se because it’s hosted a venue for the HIV infected to engage in risky behavior with one another.

While health officials are concerned by the potential risk of these gatherings, Dr. Clatts attended some of these parties to gain an understanding of the HIV community. The parties are lauded for their responsibility to contain the spread of AIDS. For the infected person who worries about spreading the disease, it’s the perfect vehicle for bonding, relating and mating.

Dr. Clatt interviewed more than 100 gay men. The findings of his study were published in the journal of Sexually Transmitted Infections. Here are some of the findings:

- Illegal/narcotic drugs were not administered or shared at the party

- The median age was 42.

- HIV-positive men contended the primary reason for attending these parties was to avoid reporting their health status to others
